6 Prayers For Our Nation, Is 63:15-16, 64:1-7

1. Pray for God’s Compassion and Mercy

Isaiah 63:15 — “Look down from heaven and see, from your holy and beautiful habitation. Where are your zeal and your might? The stirring of your inner parts and your compassion are held back from me.”

  • Prayer Focus: Ask God to look upon our nation with compassion and mercy. Acknowledge the challenges we face—division, economic difficulties, social strife—and pray for God’s zeal and might to intervene.

  • For the Election: Pray that God’s compassion would guide both leaders and voters in making decisions that honor Him and seek the common good.

2. Pray for Unity in Recognizing God as Our Father

Isaiah 63:16 — “...you, O Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.”

  • Prayer Focus: In this time of division, ask that the nation would come together in unity under the recognition of God as our Father. Pray for humility among the people to acknowledge His authority and seek His guidance.

  • For the Election: Pray that leaders and voters would seek to honor God as their ultimate authority, acting with integrity and humility.

3. Pray for God’s Power and Presence to be Manifest

Isaiah 64:1 — “Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence.”

  • Prayer Focus: Plead for God to display His power in the midst of national challenges—social, political, and spiritual. Ask that His presence would be evident in the hearts of individuals, shaping our society for His glory.

  • For the Election: Pray that God’s power would guide the election process, ensuring justice, honesty, and righteousness prevail.

4. Pray for Repentance and Renewal

Isaiah 64:5 — “You meet him who joyfully works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned; in our sins we have been a long time, and shall we be saved?”

  • Prayer Focus: Ask for a spirit of repentance to sweep across the nation. Pray for God’s mercy in forgiving our collective sins and for renewal to begin in the hearts of His people.

  • For the Election: Pray that the election will be a catalyst for national repentance, leading to decisions that reflect righteousness and justice.

5. Pray for God to Cleanse Us from Our Iniquities

Isaiah 64:6 — “We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.”

  • Prayer Focus: Confess the nation’s sins—pride, greed, injustice—and ask God to cleanse us from our iniquities. Pray for the humility to recognize our failings and the desire to pursue righteousness.

  • For the Election: Pray that God would expose any corruption or wrong motives in leaders and candidates and that voters would be discerning in choosing leaders who seek justice and truth.

6. Pray for God’s Mercy in a Time of Anguish

Isaiah 64:7 — “There is no one who calls upon your name, who rouses himself to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have made us melt in the hand of our iniquities.”

  • Prayer Focus: Pray for revival, asking God to turn the hearts of the nation back to Him. Ask that His people would rise up and call upon His name with fervency and faithfulness.

  • For the Election: Pray that the election would be an opportunity for believers to call on God in unity and for His mercy to shine through even in times of uncertainty or fear.
